The Princess Diaries star, 36, actress Anne Hathaway, recently opened up about infertility while announcing her second pregnancy. The actress reveals that she’s expecting a second child soon along with hinting at her infertility struggles.
On Wednesday, July 24, the Oscar-winning actress shared a selfie on Instagram, stunning her fans with an already huge baby bump and confirmed that she is pregnant with her second child and briefly touched upon her experience with infertility issues. She also shared a message supporting all women struggling with infertility. Along with the euphoric announcement, Hathaway also hinted that getting pregnant both times wasn’t easy for her. She even jokes about her baby bump saying, “It’s not for a movie”. She even writes “All kidding aside, for everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love.”
Hathaway welcomed her first child with Shulman, their son Jonathan Rosebanks, in March 2016. Her first pregnancy was also announced via Instagram, a decision she had made after realizing that paparazzi had been taking photos of her on vacation. “So, posting a bikini pic is a little out of character for me, but just now while I was at the beach, I noticed I was being photographed. I figure if this kind of photo is going to be out in the world it should at least be an image that makes me happy (and be that was taken with my consent. And with a filter)”, she wrote. The actress rarely posts photos of her three-year-old on social media as she thinks it invites people into her personal life. Rather, Hathaway reported in March 2017 that she wanted to expand her family eventually. “Anne wants more kids,” the outlet’s source said.
Along with her announcement, Hathaway also shared messages supporting and encouraging women struggling with infertility. Since announcing her second pregnancy, she has received thousands of good wishes, including from women who have thanked her for her supportive message.
